Welcome to the weekend!

It's the weekend, the sun is out, what's wrong with this picture? After having what was left of the tropical storm hit yesterday, blowing down trees and lots of rain, we are going to have a nice weekend. Get out the fly dope, they are going to be hungry!

It's been a busy week here, the only day I was off was Wed. and I went with the boss to Greenwood, she had to go up to a meeting. I walked around the mall and did lots of reading. I work tonight, tomorrow night and I will probably have Sunday off. I say probably because one of my co-worker's father is quite sick and I told her if she wanted extra time to spend with him on Father's Day that I would work for her.

Next weekend is the Spina Bifida Ball tournament, again, I hope we don't get rained out this time. I don't think we're going in the night before, I can't find a cheap enough hotel. So we'll have to leave here at 6:30 and head in then. We'll probably get home around 8 that night, so we'll all be beat.

Josh has decided for sure that he's gonig to camp this summer and one of his best friends is going too, so I think they'll have a good time. Now it's just a matter of buying everything he needs. He didn't think he needed anything, 2 pairs of swimming trunks is enough isn't it? LMAO I think he thought someone was going to come around every night and pick up his laundry and have it back to him in the morning, just like home!

Josh's first "prom" is tonight, he's been up since 5am, I'm not sure if he'll stay awake through the dance or not. LOL I have to work so I hope Doug will take some pictures of him all dressed up...in jean shorts, dress shirt and t-shirt. LOL

I had a call yesterday from Breanna's teacher, she had a very bad ear ache and needed to be picked up. I was working so Doug's sister went and got her and took her to the Dr. She's got a bad infection and is now on meds for it. She's feeling much better today and has gone back to school. Poor kid made it through the whole year without missing time and when she has a week left she had to miss an afternoon, she's not too happy about that.

Well my Avon order just got here so I suppose I should go bag that up, clean up the house and see if I can live through my workout DVD. Have a great weekend everyone!

Remembering Gary

4 years ago today our family lost someone very special. My cousin, Gary, died after an accident on his way to a fire. Always loved and never forgotten...

Canadian firefighter Gary Giffin passed away Tuesday, June 11 after suffering serious injuries in a pumper rollover.
Giffin, 31, had served the Fort Nelson Fire Department in British Columbia as a full time firefighter for one year, said Acting Assistant Chief Al Bone.

On June 4 at 2:43 a.m. Giffin was responding alone in a pumper to a double-wide trailer fire. He was involved in an accident and the vehicle rolled, Bone said.
Giffin was ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious head injuries. His coworkers responded, and he was flown to Edmonton University Hospital. He never regained consciousness and passed away June 11 at 9:50 a.m.
This is the first line of duty death in the department, and the first time members had to respond to one of their own. "There's a first time for everything," Bone said sadly.
Giffin is survived by his parents and his fiancee. He was a Tae Kwon Do instructor with his own club, and enjoyed softball. He was also an ardent fund raiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada.
"He was happy-go-lucky and loved the outdoors," Bone said.
The funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, June 19 at 2 p.m. at the Fort Nelson Community Recreation Center.
The Fort Nelson Fire Department is a combination department with about six full time firefighters and 20 part time paid-on-call firefighters. They serve a population of 6000 in a fire district of approximately 45 square miles, with a large industrial area and both rural and urban residential areas.
Fort Nelson is located in north eastern British Columbia at Mile 300 of the Alaska Highway, about 1,000 miles northeast of Vancouver.

Update on my appointment

I broke sumthin! That's what I told Doug when I got home, it's a bone on the bottom tip of my sternum, have no idea how I did it, but hey, that's no shock with me. LOL It's just one of those things that have to heal on their own.

My nephew, Matthew should be on his way back to BC from Peru by now, thank God. He's had a rough time of it over there and wanted to get out as soon as he could, poor kid, well he's not a kid, but will always be a kid to me I guess.

I go back to work tomorrow, after being off a week, I don't wanna! LOL

We gave up on catching kitty. This morning we had a raccoon in the trap, of all things. It made quite a mess of the trap. I think Mamma kitty has had some kittens in the last few days so I don't want to take her away from them. The bad news is she probably had them in the woods and it's raining quite hard, I hope they are okay.

Just about time to hit the hay, weekend is almost here!

Home again

Hey there! We're home from the city, it was pretty much a waste of time. The Dr. said that Josh has to live with it, deal with it. That about sums it up. Josh was upset by it, so was I, but what do you do? So we'll just do what we can to help the problem and hope that it goes away again, like it did last fall.

Josh did get asked to take part in a study of kids with hydrocephulas, he had to go with the nurse and do 2 pages of questions, I have 4 pages and Doug had 2 and Josh got paid $10.00 to do it! So that will be his canteen money for this weekend. He's going camping with Aunt SueSue and Uncle Chris, fishing in a tournament on Saturday and just having a nice weekend away, we hope.

There was an emil waiting for us when we got home, 2 actually, the ball tournament has been re-scheduled for the 24th. I told them I'd check with the boss, it's hard to get Saturdays off since we all work on Saturday. Anyway, the boss said it was okay, (thank you Boss Lady!) so as long as it's not raining, we'll go in. We can't afford to go all night again so we'll go in Saturday morning early and come back Saturday night.

I have to go to the Dr. tomorrow, I've got a lump in my chest, right around my breast bone. It's been there since last week so I called today, the nurse told me not to worry because it's very sore and gave me an appointment for tomorrow at lunch time.

We're trying to catch the kitty over at Pearl's house. The SPCA is going to pay to have her spayed so she'll stop having kittens that don't have a home. We don't mind feeding her, she is an outside cat that is ver wild, so it's not easy to catch her. We've got a live trap and she just will not go in it, well last night she went in it, got the can of food and got it out, without tripping the trap, she's a very smart kitty! We hope that once we get her spayed she'll get more used to us and start coming over here to eat, so if the house over there is ever sold, she'll be used to coming here for her food.

Thanks to the the generosity of the Atlantic Canadians, the IWK/Grace Health Center got over 5 million dollars! That's record high for the telethon. Can't wait to go in tomorrow and see if they have all the set taken down and pick us up some telethon shirts.

Josh's appointment is at 1:30 and we have no idea if they will be doing some testing or not, so I'm not sure what time we'll be back home. I'll report in on how the appointment went and what they think is going on, when we get home or Tues. Wish us luck that they can figure it out!
