Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2012 folks, we're almost half way through the first month, hope new years was good to all of you. We had a low key New Years Eve, as we have the last few years. Breanna was out babysitting and we had Josh, Alyson and the baby here with us. We wanted to ring in the new year with some fire works but it was a rotten, rainy, foggy night so we had to pass on the fire works.

We got Doug's Dad settled in his new home, down in Lunenburg, he seems to like it so far but it will be nice when they have a place for him in the home here, much better than 45 minutes away. Doug's Mom hasn't been doing too well and is back in the hospital for probably the 4th time in the last couple months. She's been diagnosed with the same thing as Dad, Parkinson's and dementia, strange eh? 2 parents, same diagnoses within 7 months. So needless to say, sooner or later Mom is going to have to go in to a home too. The Dr. wants to talk to us on Monday and I have a feeling this is one of the things he'll want to talk about.

So I finally got a call to book my surgery...again. Feb. 15th will be the day that. Not looking forward to it at all. I know it's supposed to help but knowing I'll be out of commission for about the next 6 months sucks. My niece is getting married in June in Cape Breton so that will be an interesting drive, think it will take all day so we can make lots of stops so I can get out and move around. Breanna is going to be in the wedding as a brides maid and is very excited about it, we've been looking for dresses on line and have it narrowed down to a few.

Anyway, I should go throw the laundry in, the never ending job around here. Have a good one!

A long overdue update

I know, I know, it's been forever since I've blogged a regular blog, don't worry about it, I didn't forget, I thought about it every day but so much has gone on in the last month that I didn't know how to put it all together. So first, my surgery on Oct. 20th. I went in and got taken in about an hour or so late, for awhile it looked like I wouldn't be having it at all because they were low on beds. Anyway, finally got in to the OR and the first thing they do is look for a vein for my IV, right then I should have known how the day was going to go and got up and left. It took them about 20 minutes of looking, they even tried in my neck and had just called for the ultrasound machine when they finally got a line in. Next thing I knew a nurse was waking me up in recovery and the first thing she said was, "They couldn't do your operation so you will be back in 2 months to have it done." No explanation, nothing. When they took me back to my room and Doug and Breanna came in I found out that they didn't even go tell him, he had no clue that it wasn't done. I didn't see a Dr. that night, the next morning the resident came in and told me I had too much scar tissue and they couldn't do it through my belly. Duhhh, they knew how many abdominal surgeries I have had, you would have thought they would have gone in through a small incision to check first, nope, wide open and 20 staples is how they found out.

I came home the day after surgery, which was Friday. Saturday night I was up at 4am because I was in pain, having a cup of tea when the phone rang, it was Doug's sister, telling us his brother's house was on fire. I sent him right to his Mom's house and he came back an hour later and said his brother was still alive but it didn't look good. That afternoon I got a call that his brother had passed away and I waited for him to get home from the store and we headed to his Mom's, she was at the hospital seeing his Dad and we wanted to get up there before she got there and found out. I've never seen my mother in-law cry in 18 years, it was very hard.

The following week we found out that my Uncle had cancer and they didn't think he had too long, maybe 3 months, his wife, my Mom's sister, just passed away a year and half ago, so much sadness in such a little amount of time.

The next weekend we had a memorial for Doug's brother, just a family thing then we went up to his Mom's after. Got a call the next morning that his Mom had been taken to the hospital by ambulance after falling through the night and laying on the floor for most of the night. So now we had both Doug's parents in the hospital. They kept her in because she had fluid on her lungs and they thought maybe she had a mini-stroke. She wasn't thinking quite right.

The following weekend I was going up to see my in-laws and ran into my cousin, who told me my Uncle was also in the hospital so I went to see him before I went home, he wasn't doing great but was awake and talking. And a phone call comes in the morning to tell me that he had passed away.

On top of all this, the place that Doug works at is on the verge of closing. The Union members had to have a vote last week to either keep it open and tear everything that the union has worked for up or close. The vote was a yes vote, barley but I still don't expect they will keep it open, I'll actually be shocked if they are still running by spring. So...now you see why I haven't blogged? So much has gone on in the last month, I'd love to go back to my very boring life

I go see my surgeon next Friday, can't wait to see him since I haven't actually seen him in almost 2 years. I didn't see him the day I had surgery, or the next day. Now I have to talk myself into this freaking surgery, again. And going through my belly was supposed to be the easy way, so this should be even more interesting, I really wish he would have just flipped me over and done it, it would be hard to heal but I wouldn't have to dread it...again.

Eyelash growth product

I have terrible eye lashes, even mascara doesn't make the darn things look any better than they did before I put it on. These days though, we don't have to settle on having terrible eye lashes. You can now buy products that are great eyelash growth products. Check that link out and learn everything you need to know about eyelash growth products. They do the work for you, they try the products and then they rate them so you know the product that you buy is going to be worth the money you paid for it.

Sears Coupons

One of my favorite places to shop is Sears. I can do it on-line, without having to leave the house which is a bonus with the shape I'm in. I have the kids pick out things that they like and then I pick a few things and order them, so easy. If you shop at Sears, you might want to check out these awesome sears coupons. These days coupons are essential to shopping, everyone needs to get the best deal that they can, right?
