Engagement rings

Who doesn't like diamonds? I know I do! When I got engaged we didn't do the ring thing though. We didn't have much money and decided we'd wait and I'd get a ring later and concentrated more on having money to get married. All over for another year

It's comes and it goes and now it's all over except for the clean up and paying the CC bills. LOL I think the kids had a great Christmas, they got what they asked for, plus some extras. I got some nice stuff from LaSenza and a diamond necklace. I had a rough day yesterday with it being the first one without Mom and having no other family here. When Linda called last night I bawled like a baby, made worse by talking to Beth and then Matt, I miss them all so much. But I'm doing better today and looking forward to a night out with some friends. I think we'll head out to my cousin's house for some drinks then off to Alley 9 for their Boxing day party. We haven't done this before but with our decision to stay home for New Years I thought we should have a night out tonight. Last night I decided I think we'll go to Bridgewater for a movie on NYE and then come home and have some fireworks. It will be our first year staying home with the kids since the year we had Brea and the kids are looking forward to it.

We went out for a great visit

I finally made it over to visit June and Wendy, we weren't sure they would recognize me since I haven't been there for 2 months, but like I told them, I still look the same just older and tireder, is that a word? LOL

Anyway, Breanna and I stayed a couple of hours, us grown-ups chatted an caught up and Breanna snuggled with Charlie, Sam's dog. I'm shocked she didn't try and sneak out with him. Then we came home for supper, which consisted of frozen dinners for the kids and some homemade candy for Mom. LOL Yea, I'm bad. But it was sooo good! Wendy made it and I'm not sure there will be any left when Doug gets off at 8. He's working late tonight, shutting down the mill, this will be his last shift for 5 weeks, as the mill is shutting down. Sucks for us but we just hope that at the end of 5 weeks they are back to work. Luckily I'm still working so we won't starve to death, I don't think...

Textbooks

Books are a big thing in our household. I love to read and spend most of my free time in my lazy boy with a book. Breanna has also come to love time spent with a good book, so I'm always looking for great deals on books for myself and the kids. The day after

Whew, I wasn't kidding last night when I said we were having a storm, it snowed and blew and rained and blew now the sun is out but the wind is still picking up quite often. I lost count of how many times our power went off through the night. The cordless phone by my bed talks every time the power comes on and I listened to that quite a few times through the night. Thank God we didn't lose any trees but I'm sure not everyone was that lucky. We still have some snow, so if it doesn't rain we might have a bit of a white Christmas but it is still calling for rain on Christmas Eve, yuck.

So today for my day off I'm trying to get some house work done, I'm going over to visit with June and Wendy in a little bit. June has gone out to get her hair done so I'm waiting till she should be home. Breanna and I'll go over for awhile, then I have to try and remember to stop and get Mom's mail, which I haven't done in forever, then close her PO Box, come home and do some more housework. I still need to go up to my in-laws and wrap but Doug might have to do that tomorrow night, he has to work late tonight and I work tomorrow night, there's not much to do though so I think he can handle it. If not, we'll get it done when we're up there when I get off work on Christmas Eve. We close at 4 so I'll be up there shortly after that. Lots of people think it sucks that we work Christmas Eve but it doesn't bother me at all, everyone on staff works, we take turns on cash, we laugh, carry on, eat and just have lots of fun, there's no way you can be in a bad mood.

Speaking of moods, I'm doing pretty good, the other night I had a good cry when I was talking to my Aunt Barb. Certain Christmas songs can make me cry, when I think about not having any family here at all this Christmas I get kinda sad but who wouldn't. It's going to be very different this year from last, when all plans were made around Mom. Just different...

A snow Sunday!

Good evening folks! Welcome to a snowy Sunday evening in Nova Scotia! I worked all weekend and since it's the last weekend before Christmas it's been a busy one at work. Today was very busy the first few hours since it was calling for a storm tonight. Now it's snowing and blowing like crazy but it's supposed to change to rain toward morning, uckk. I'd rather just have a big old snow storm that stays for Christmas. It's also calling for rain on Christmas Eve, which I hate. We haven't had a white Christmas in so long. I'm hoping that Mom can send us some snow this year.
