Appointment overwith

So the appointment with the gyno was yesterday. He agrees that I need surgery but can't get me in till after the holidays. So sometime in the near future I'll be less a few parts, which is good news. LOL He can't tell me if it's malignant or not until he gets in there so right now we just hope for the best and I'm not letting it ruin my Christmas. Thank God for my friends that have supported me for the last few weeks and my big Sissy, who has talked me down on more than one occasion in the last few weeks.

In other good news, I was a brainiac the other night and decided to bleach my hair, all of it, with no cap, OMG. My hair was white. Meikka came and put a color on it for me so at least my hair is a normal color, problem is, I burnt my head. I have a chemical burn over 90% of my head. So I have a huge headache, which is probably more of the burn hurting and not a headache.

Meikka and I were supposed to go to Shelburne for the afternoon today but she ended up with the flu and we have a little bit of snow flurries and with bald tires I don't want to take a chance on it snowing up there. So I guess we are going to plan on Monday.

I have another teenager

My baby girl turned 13 today. She started the day by getting her present from Mom and Dad, her very first cell phone, which she's been hounding for forever, LOL, I told her all along that she wasn't getting one until she was 14, so I lied just a little bit. We had a party at the Union hall from 1-4, 16 girls doing makeup, nails, hair and listening to music, it was fun. It was very hard for her, with 3 of her best friends not there but she made it through with only getting upset about it once.

After the party, Nanny and Pappa came down for some cake, I'm glad we got a big one, we still have some left, which is a good thing, the cake tasted great. No thanks to me, thanks to the Super Store. LOL

This up coming week I have some cheer stuff that I have to look after and am waiting for a call from my Dr. with an appointment with a surgeon, I have to have my ovary out. The cyst that they've been watching for the last year didn't look good on my ultrasound the other week and Garry would like it taken out ASAP. Pretty scary stuff, I'm honestly not sure how much more I can take.

Anyway, it's been a very long day, time for a hot shower and my jammies. Night blogging world!

I guess it's better than snow

We have had the wettest November that I can ever remember. Last week we had like 6 full days of rain, which lead to may floods all over Nova Scotia. By the end of the week, even people saying that it was better than snow didn't help. LOL So we had a few days of sunny, warm weather and now we are back to the rain again and after the couple days of rain, the temps are supposed to drop way down. You know if we would just have steady temps, everyone would have a chance to get used to them and ready for winter, but we've been going from +15 to +1, it's crazy.

So I have a busy weekend coming up I think. Friday night is Harry Potter, yay! I bought our tickets last week, knowing that by the time we get down there that night, tickets will probably be sold out. Saturday I hope to go to the city, not Christmas shopping, no thanks, I have to go get Breanna's cheer shoes, which I can't get anywhere around here, not that I haven't tried. We went to Athlete's World in the mall the other night and I have never had such sucky customer service in my life. So I might have been able to get them there, if the clerk had actually wanted to make a sale instead of standing around talking to her co-worker. I finally said quit loudly that I'd go somewhere else and that didn't even get her to turn around. I probably could have walked out with my arms full of boxes and she wouldn't have noticed. One thing about working in customer service for all these years, I know how customers are supposed to be treated and can't stand any less from an associate. So yea, to the city to get shoes and I hope to go to Dartmouth and see Tammi and the boys, since I haven't yet seen baby Kyle. I can't wait to see him and my favorite red head, Luke.

Happy Halloween

Yay, it's over! I hate Halloween, I don't think I've like it much since I was too old to go get treats. hehe Anyway, Breanna and I were out and are back and nice and warm in our jammies. Josh had to work, so he dressed up in his camo outfit and went to work, Brea and I dropped in to visit on our way by and I guess they were pretty bored.

Cheer today was cute, everyone dressed up for practice, mind you most of them had to take their costumes off to practice but it was nice to get to see them all dressed up. Had some treats and took orders for their track suits, I can't wait to see them, now we'll match the rest of the kids.

My boy bought me a very nice gift last week, I needed a new cell phone and every pay week there's just not enough to stretch that far, so he took the money he had saved to buy my Christmas gift and bought me a Galaxy S cell phone, I love it, I'm sure I'll love it more when I figure out how to use everything on it. LOL

Baby it's cold outside!

What's up with this? Winter can't be coming, I'm not ready! I still have my summer shirts in my closet, my boots went to the basement last spring and have mildew on them that I can't get off, I need a new winter coat!! Stop the winter! Orrrr, I could just move down south, there' problem solved.

So what's new, not much I guess. Cheer on the weekends, hermit for the other 6 days, that's my life. I figure by the time they get around to doing my surgery I'll be in such a rut I'll never leave the house. LOL Oh and even better, *sarcastic* I have to have surgery on my ovaries I guess, I have another ultrasound on the 10th and that will tell the tale, then the problem of getting into someone that will do the surgery ASAP so I can heal up before my back surgery. Always good news, there's that sarcastic thing again. LOL

The kids have Thursday and Friday off this week for inservices, Friday we're going to Bridgewater to get Brea's pics done at Wal-Mart. She didn't like her school pics and to tell you the truth, I can get a lot more pics at Wal-Mart for a better price than I can get them from the school. We didn't order Josh's grade 12 pics because it's his grad year, he had grad pics done last week but I'm probably not going to buy them either, we're going to also have those done at Wal-Mart, I saw some that were done there last year and they were awesome.

Anyway, it's midnight and I just finished coloring my hair, like any fool does this time of night.

I'm sitting with my eyes glued to the TV, watching as they get ready to send the capsule down to start bringing up the minders that have been trapped for over 60 days in a mine. It amazes me that everyone is okay. I've been watching reports on the news for the last 2 months, where they would show the miners and they all looked like they were dealing well and doing fine, it's so awesome. They haven't sent the capsule down with the first rescuer yet but they say once that one goes down, it could come back up within an hour, so I'm going to try to at least stay up to watch the first one come up. Their families much be just about jumping out of their skin right about now.

A beautiful Saturday

Yesterday was a horrible day, it rained so hard that at times you couldn't see 2 feet in front of your face and the wind blew so hard, it was like a hurricane but it wasn't. Josh came home at lunch time and was quite surprised to find out I had power, he told me to go look out the window and I could see what he was talking about. One of the trees in the yard had split and the part that was breaking off, was laying on our power lines. I called NSP right away and was told that someone would come help us out. There were no power outages around here so I thought we'd see someone yesterday afternoon, needless to say, nobody showed up. So today Doug, Josh and our neighbor figured out a way to get the tree down without taking the power line with it.

I'm in more agony than normal today but haven't figured out why. I know I didn't do anything out of the ordinary yesterday so I'm thinking I must have just laid too long in one position through the night, that does it sometimes, as time goes on it takes less and less to make it worse.

Breanna has her first cold of the school year, her teacher has been sick all week with it and she must have caught it from him or one of the other kids in the class. I hope it just stays with the stuffed up nose, it's way too early to miss time in school. She has cheer tomorrow too and I really don't want her to miss that, she's going to miss next Sunday because she's invited to a birthday party and then we're going to Tammi's baby shower, we can't wait, we haven't seen them since Christmas and Luke has grown so much since then.

What a strange day

I got up this morning to a beautiful day, the sun was out and it was quite warm. At lunch time it started to rain and then thunder, weird. I guess Josh won't be going to do any lawns after school today.

Not much new on the home front. I had to go to the Dr. yesterday because there is something in my upper belly that is pushing on my ribs on the left side and making me very uncomfortable. I have to have an U/S to find out what it is. There's a good chance that it's one of the cysts doing it, I just hope I don't have to wait too long to have the U/S because I'm very uncomfortable from the pressure. Still no news on my back surgery, I'm soon going to need to go in for a total body replacement.

Hurricane Earl

Well we made it through the hurricane with lots of leaves all over the yard and in the pool, the garbage can and green bin got knocked over but other than that we did fine. Well we were fine till about 2 when the power went out and didn't come back on till around 7. I was very happy when it came on considering when I called at supper time I was told it would be back on my 6pm on Monday, that would have really sucked.

Other than going out to Western Head to see the ocean we didn't do much. I've been watching movies for the last couple of hours, first was The Backup Plan and now I'm watching Marmaduke. Both good movies.

Where did our summer go?

I can not believe that today is the last day of August. Where did summer go? The kids go back to school on Friday and then Fall will soon follow, which I hate, not because I hate fall but because I hate winter, with a passion.

Josh got his license on the 4th of August, so my son and my car are never home. LOL Actually, it's not that bad, he'll go to the store for me or go take his sister places or pick up her friends, he knows he's not allowed to just take the car and go to town or something like that, if you are taking the car you have a reason, not just to go hang out.

I took the kids to the city last Friday to finish up back to school shopping, we went, we shopped, we were home before 3. LOL That's the way I like to go to the city. Josh bought his own back to school clothes for the first time, which was nice, I just had to get Breanna's.

We are in the middle of a heat wave here, it's been over 30 for the last 2 days and is supposed to stay that way for the rest of the week, then on Saturday there is a good chance we are going to get hit with Hurricane Earl. It's coming right at us and is a category 4 right now but they think kit will be a 2 when it hits us. Could make for an interesting weekend!

Playstation 3

Pretty much everyone has a video game these days, with many families having more than one. We have one but have thought about adding another to the mix. Didn't do much to celebrate, had to take Breanna to Bridgwater for tumbling and when I got home Josh had a cake here for me. He wanted to take me out to supper too but I wouldn't let him do that. Poor kid would have no money left out of his pay cheque at all if I let him spend it all on me. I'm just glad that he's working and helping out with the cell phone bill, that was the only request I had, oh yea, and he has to pay his car insurance when he gets his licence, which is going to put our insurance up $1000. a year, it's freaking crazy!

A wet Sunday

It's been a pretty dull weekend, weather wise and life wise. The heat here has been wicked, it's not even the heat so much, it's the humidity. Guess what?!

Josh got a job! A reall job! He's been doing lawn and yard work for people since last summer but has looked so hard for a real job. Anyway, he now has a "real job". He works at the Irving here in town. He worked 2 shifts this week and goes back in on Sunday. His shifts next week start at 5:15am, ugg, ok, so now he really needs to get his licence. LOL Just to take it easy on Mom, who HATES getting up before 10am. LOL No, I'm not that lazy, it's just the fact that my back hurts like heck by night time so most nights I'm up until 1 or 2am, then once I go to sleep I have to get up quite a few times just to move around because I get so stiff and sore. One of the things I look forward to after surgery is being able to sleep, all night.

The first weekend of July

It's finally SUMMER! Yes, my favorite time of the year. I think it should be summer all year round. LOL Being the first weekend of July, it's Privateer Days here in Liverpool. This is a whole weekend of festivities, concerts, rides, parades, fireworks, you name it and we have it. Tomorrow is the parade so we'll go to that with the kids, it's the first time in years that I haven't been in the parade with one of the kids, I'm looking forward to being able to watch and take pictures instead of walking in it. I'm really not sure if I could have walked in it, my back is way to far gone.

After the parade I'm taking Breanna and Megs to the rides, where they will meet up with Miss Hayleigh and get their bracelets and ride all day. Not real sure how that's going to work out with my back the way it is. LOL

Tomorrow night Brea will do her last part with the Graveyard tours, she didn't get a part this year but she does wear her costume and collect money at the door. She was very disappointed not to be involved with the actual cast, since she thought she was and I thought she was going to decide not to help at the door but I told her that if she did that, she wouldn't get a part next year if there is one.

And the exciting news for the day is...JOSHIE GOT A JOB! Finally, after more than a year of searching, he's employed! We are so happy for him and he's thrilled, I hope he enjoys it and I think he will.

Anyway, 12:14am, I think it's time for me to head to bed!

What a beautiful day!

Summer has come back to visit us for another day, I'm not saying it's here to stay, it tricked us last week. Breanna made it through the first night of having her bottom braces but I'll be so glad when they stop bothering her. She's not eating much so she's complaining that she's going to starve to death. I won't be at all shocked if we get a call to come and get her, she's just feeling miserable and I don't think she'll stay away all night but she might surprise me.

Braces part 2

Breanna had her bottom braces put on today, finally. The top ones have been on since Sept. and everyone kept asking when the bottom would be put on. We didn't realize how crooked her teeth really were until she got these on, they go up and down the whole way across. The top ones are looking better, there's room for one of her eye teeth to come down, now they just have to make room for the second one. The Dr. said that they may have to take one out of the bottom yet but he's not sure.

Josh has been sick for the last few days, he missed 2 days of school, went to school today but came home at lunch time and missed his last class. He's had a high fever, stuffy nose and sore throat. I hope he doesn't share with the rest of us, Brea just had the stomach flu last week and I don't think she needs something else just yet.

Doing some exciting shopping on line today, you ready for this? I was shopping for a doorbell button! LOL Wasn't expecting that one were you?? Anyway, really, that's what I was shopping for. Well we made it through the 1st long weekend

The first long weekend of spring/summer is all over. And what a weekend it was, actually, it was nice all weekend but cool, until yesterday, then whoooo, it was summer! There's only a little more than a month left of school then God help me, my first summer home with the kids in a long long time. I've threatened them that I'm going to make Doug take the car to work so that I'm not playing taxi all summer. I guess that will be one good thing about Josh getting his licence. *shiver*

The long weekend

The first long weekend of spring/summer is here, many people look forward to it so they can kick back and relax, go camping or fishing or both. Josh is busy with the International Theater Festival, he's been working back stage with them since the first of the week and will continue till Sunday. Monday he'll catch up on some mowing that he gets paid to do. He hasn't found a job yet but does have lots of lawns to do which keeps the money coming in so he doesn't mind so much not having a job.

We had our clinic day on Wed., it turns out it wasn't our last one at the IWK, they are going to keep him for 2 more years because the orthopedic surgeon wants to be able to keep an eye on his bad leg. He doesn't mid so much, he's used to the Drs. and nurses there and we'll miss them when he starts going to adult clinic.

Comp season is over!

Last weekend was the girl's last competition. We went to Truro for the weekend for Provincials. The girls brought home a very nice 3rd place trophy. We were very pleased with them, they are a little more hard on themselves than we are. In one way I'm glad it's over, I won't miss having to spend money on hotel rooms and costs for a weekend away but I think I will miss getting to get away and spend time with the girls. It had always been that I spent the most time alone with Josh, because of the many hours that we've spent at the hospital, Breanna now feels like she's caught up. LOL

Speaking of Josh, we go to the city next week for SB clinic and it looks like it will be our last at the IWK, now remember, I've known our nurses since before Josh was born. I knew I could call on them for anything and if they couldn't find the answer to tell us over the phone, we went right in and got looked after. We are going to miss them.

Today was Mother's Day, or I guess it was yesterday, since it's now 12:17am. The kids got me 30 tanning sessions and I went out for my first one today. LOL I love it, it makes my back feel so good from the heat and I think I look so much better, so with tanning, I also start to think about losing weight, which I hope I can do.

Another exciting weekend!

Well another weekend is here but when you don't work, it's all the same to me. LOL We have a competition this weekend in Dartmouth but it's just a one day thing so we don't have to spend a night away. We just go in on Sunday morning and hope to be back before too late that night. We're actually not positive we are going, the girls are a little unsure of the routine so we're waiting till tomorrow to decide for sure. I'm sure they will do just fine if we go but we need them to be totally comfortable with it, if not, that's how accidents happen.

Right now Brea and I are watching Season 1 of Glee, we didn't watch it last year but when I saw an add for this season it looked so good that I bought the first season off eBay and we are slowly getting them watched. I taped the first one of this season to watch when we catch up. LOL I wish I had known how good it was, we are loving it!

So although I've always sworn I'd never take a vacation away from my kids, it seems I just might do that, IF I can save enough money and that's IF the mill doesn't keep shutting down like it did last year, the first shutdown starts on Wed. and they are down for a little more than a month. My nephew, Matthew, is getting married somewhere down south, could be anywhere in the Carribean and it will kill me for one of my sisters kids to get married without me, I love them both like they are my own and although I said I wasn't going to go and wasn't going to let it bother me, it is, and it's still a year away. So we'll see what the year brings...

Sup?

Not much going on around here, just the normal, me being in pain, trying to get stuff done, feeling like a failure, same old same old. We are also getting close to the end of the cheer season, with only 2 competitions left, one this weekend that is just for one day and one April 30 - May 2nd, that is the Provincials and the last comp of the season, thank God. I had to tell Brea tonight that I can't go with her, it's during shut down and there's no way I'm going to be able to go with her, that sent her to her bedroom in tears, which made me cry, but without permission from the man of the house, I can't go, it sucks.

Along with all the other stress going on right now, a good friend has been missing for over 4 weeks, he was a boy friend from many years ago, who is now a published writer. He's been living in San Francisco for the last couple of months and about 4 weeks ago seems to have dropped of the face of the earth. This is also playing hell with my nerves, he's still a friend and I hope we soon find him and that he's okay.

I guess I'm in a funk that I just can't get out of, maybe when I see the Surgeon on May 5th he'll have some good news for me.

It has been...

The week from h*l*. I want this week over and to never have another one like it. It started on Sunday when a friend passed away after a 5 year battle with cancer, she fought hard and she fought long, but it finally got the best of her and she's now an Angel in Heaven after being an Angel here on earth. Monday we had to go to Bridgewater for a meeting and we got a call right before we left that my Aunt wasn't doing very well and I should probably come to the hospital. So we made a quick trip down for the meeting and then right back so I could get to the hospital, once there I found out that we would soon have another Angel in Heaven. I stayed till around 8 then got Doug to come and get me so I could have the car, did a Tim Horton's run and then back to the hospital to stay with the family for awhile. At about 11:30 my back could take no more of being away from the heating pad so I came home, I didn't go to bed because I knew that the phone would ring within the hour and I was right, she was gone.

Last night was visitation for Rosealind, her funeral was today, it was a very hard one, I could see her daughter Tina, who I love to death, and her daughter, who is one of Breanna's best friends, the were taking it very hard, as did most of the people in the church. We then went to the reception which we, the LPCC board members looked after.

Tomorrow is Aunt Shirley's visitation and then funeral, these family funerals just keep getting harder, I have nobody left except my sis, who's on the other side of the country. So I don't have a parent to go with, to help me through this stuff and God knows my husband would never go with me and support me, he didn't even go to my parent's funerals. So I go alone and feel like the misfit of the family. We only have 1 brother and 1 sister of Mom's left, 3 of them are gone now, all of them way too soon.

Another dull weekend

Another dull weekend upon us, seems strange when we aren't running all weekend. That will come in a couple of weeks when we head in to Cheer Expo, which is the Nationals.

So I haven't been blogging as much, seems there's some kids out there who have nothing better to do than read my blog, how pathetic is your life when you are 16 and creep a 40 year old woman's' blog? I do make money blogging so if I have to shut them down, I won't be happy. I thought kids grew up when they got to this age, I really think they are acting like 5 year olds, damn, just getting on my nerves. At this point if it keeps up, I'll start naming names and giving out their info, maybe once they start getting bugged for having no life, they'll go find one.

A sunny day after a snowy day

Yesterday the kids got an unscheduled day off because we had some snow, they were hoping to have today off to but it's nice and sunny and I even have a couple of windows open.

I went to my Dr. yesterday to see what the letter from the surgeon said, it was what we expected and now surgery will be scheduled. Not something I'm looking forward to at all but ya gotta do what you gotta do. Hopefully it will be done right before summer so at least I'll have Brea home with me to give me a hand. She told me she's going to get a pool lounger so I can just lay in the pool all day, not sure how she thinks that I'll get in or get out of the pool, that might be interesting. LOL

I've been sick since Tuesday with the cold that Breanna decided to share with me, today I'm just feeling miserable, runny nose, coughing, upset tummy, I think it will be a nice quiet weekend.

Pimples on scalp

As I have said before, my 16 year old has problems with acne. A couple of months ago he started having a problem with pimples on scalp. Since we can't figure out why he gets pimples, I thought this one might be a mystery, but it wasn't. I figured out that it was caused by him wearing his hat all the time and his sweating, so at least this one was easy to fix. As for other acne, there are all kinds of things that it gets blamed on, and most of them have been proven false, I think it's stress and hormones myself, during exam time his face was a mess, I don't think that was a coincidence.

It's sure NOT looking like Spring is on it's way

A sleepy Saturday night

LOL I went over to watch the last hour, then brought Brea home, she got showered and then off to the Super Store where they bagged groceries for 2 hours to raise money for the team.

Josh got out for a drive twice today, for the first time in a couple of weeks. With any snow on the road I won't let him drive, that car is crap in the snow, well, it's crap all the time IMO but as usually my opinion doesn't count for much around here. LOL

I was told to pick up a copy of the local paper today, so I did, and got to read a very interesting article about a business in town getting an award for being such a great place, very little staff turn over because he treats his employees so well, hmmmm, that's funny, not quite the way I remember it and there are plenty more that agree with me, BS, I can't believe the article was even in the paper. Oh well, karma...karma...

First competition over

We had a very busy weekend, leaving here by 11:30 on Friday and not getting home till 7ish on Sunday, by that time I was so darn tired I can't say for sure what time we got home. The girls did great, they got a bit of stage fright but after a chat from their Head Coach Meikka, and some hugs and kisses from parents, they went out there and they ROCKED the place. You would never know that they had never performed in front of a large audience before. They were in last place as of Saturday night, not that we cared, they did their best and it was amazing, but Sunday they did even better and moved up to 4Th place, so we were even more proud of them than we were on Saturday.

Then it was a long drive home, we woke up to snow in NB so the drive home was pretty scary at times, I don't enjoy snow covered roads, especially when someone besides Doug is driving. LOL I'm sure on that road I would have been growling at him too. I was scared to death, I even had a sore neck yesterday that probably came from being so tense.

Anyway, first one is done, the next one is the end of the month, 2 days in Exhibition Park in Halifax, we aren't staying in, the competition doesn't start till 11 both days so we'll drive in and out. Now we just have to come up with registration $$. Chaching!

3 More Sleeps!

The girls are getting sooo excited! And worse than the girls is the coaches! LOL I'm not sure they'll make it through the day on Saturday. I went to take pictures of the girls yesterday and watched them do their routine and they are doing great, the hours of practice has paid off and they look wonderful.

I haven't gotten the suitcase out yet but have been stashing the things we need on my hope chest, ready to throw them in the bag, probably tomorrow. I can't remember where I put my list of things to pack, so I have to find that first. LOL

I would love to see it warm up a bit before we go, places in upper NB, which is NOT where we are going, thank God, it was -40 with the wind chill. Brrrrr

A lazy Tuesday night

Not much going on here, just sitting back waiting to see what the weather page says we'll get tomorrow, it seems to differ from one site to another, so we just wait and see I guess. I really don't care if it snows or not, I don't have to go anywhere, I just have to find out in the morning if the kids have to go to school or not.

So today is the 7 year anniversary of Pat's death, I'm sure Donna-Leigh had a quiet day, she usually does on this day, she takes the day to do what she wants to or needs to. The 7 years has gone by so fast and she's done a fabulous job of being a single Mom, it might not be easy all the time but she makes it through with flying colors. Great job Donna-Leigh, I don't think I'd be that strong, I luv ya!
